Good effects, but plot missing (warning: spoilers) - Spider-Man 3 Reviews

I just caught the midnight showing of Spiderman 3 and I must say, even though the effects are well done, the story falters. At times it got ridiculous...like why was Sandman even causing so much chaos and destruction? Why did Eric from That 70's Show want to kill Peter just because Peter exposed his fake photos and took his girlfriend to eat dinner? He didn't seem so volatile... Also, there is one point in the movie that irks me. At one point, you see Spidey swing in front of a HUGE American flag, with patriotic music playing. Then, not 5 seconds after, some reporter with a BRITISH accent says something along the lines of "HE'S HERE TO SAVE US ALL." What purpose did this serve, other than to blatantly imply that "ZOMG America is GR8 and Britain needs America!!11"? On a final note, the ending was extremely weak. I left the theater feeling very disappointed, and judging by the reactions of others who were in the theater, I was not the only one.
